Our Story

The City of Victoria Youth Council

is a youth-driven, grassroots program funded by the City of Victoria and hosted by Volunteer Victoria. The Youth Council offers opportunities for young people to be leaders in their community. This is a passionate group that takes action and raises awareness about important issues in the community, while also sharing youth perspectives and experiences with Victoria’s City Council, staff, and citizens.

Like the fresh energy of spring, May brought new beginnings and meaningful impact for the CVYC! We finally wrapped up our mural project🎨 (huge shoutout to RBC Foundation, BC Transit, and UWSVI for their support! ), and had the chance to step into the shoes of activists through a humanitarian campaign on climate change and environmental service, organized by a few of our amazing council members! 🌎🌿 We also had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the Ministry of Justice on the next phase of their research project, where we brainstormed fresh ideas and shared innovative prototypes. May was a month full of learning, connection, and growth, and we’re so proud of everything we’ve accomplished together. March has been a month full of progress and impact for CVYC!🌟 🌸 We’ve made huge strides on our mural project (shoutout to RBC Foundation, BC Transit, and UWSVI for making it possible!), had insightful consultations with the Housing & Infrastructure team, and worked with Bylaw on raising awareness about drink spiking prevention. We also had the valuable opportunity to share our youth perspective on the power of establishing intergenerational relationships, learning and collaborating to develop strategies to build stronger communities. On top of all that, our council has been working hard behind the scenes, designing and finalizing details for our upcoming Merch campaign (stay tuned!!!). We’ve been keeping the content flowing to stay connected and keep our amazing community in the loop! Whether its through poetry, music, or words this is a space to speak out, share your story, and remind each other that we're not alone. Bring yourself, friends, and family!

We had an amazing time doing chalk out in front of the neighbourhood building this past Wednesday!

Our council had a great beach clean up at Clover Point Park today! It was very successful, and we were able to see some wildlife on the way!🌎🌳🌊 #earthweek2024
